Dear friends and patients,
As the world begins to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic you may have several questions. You may be wondering if it safe to go to the dentist or what we at Premier Dental Group of Wellesley are doing to keep you and our team members safe. In my opinion, dental offices are one of the safest places you can be. Dentistry is a profession of obsessive compulsive cleaners. Dental treatment rooms are cleaned with bactericidal and virucidal cleaners before and after each patient. We have always used EPA registered hospital grade disinfectants for approved contact times. We utilize disposable barrier protection to prevent germs from spreading when we touch things. All instruments are heat sterilized and used only on you before they are sterilized again. Our water lines are shocked and our suction lines are cleaned every day. Dentistry was safe before the Covid 19 outbreak and remains safe now.
Our office has been open for seeing patients for emergency dental care. Those patients who have been here, as well as the team members have felt safe the entire time and in the 48 hour post op phone call they remain symptom free.
Since the pandemic, we have been taking additional safety measures to protect our patients and our team. These include:
~ Social distancing
~Covid 19 day before and day of screening and taking temperatures the day of ~ Limiting the number of people who are in the office at all times ~ hand sanitizer available ~ increase PPE( personal protective equipment) for both patients and team members ~ preprocedural rinses with hydrogen peroxide and water/ mouthwash ~ limiting aerosol generating procedures ~ use of air purifiers
Unfortunately, there remains a lot of uncertainty on so many levels when it comes to Covid 19. As a result, there is always a possibility of transmission to anyone of us. These better practices, however, in addition to our regular infection control procedures make our office one of the safest places you can be. As a result of these extra measures there will be an additional compliance and PPE charge at each visit.
As we enter Phase 1 of the state’s reopening plan, you can be assured that our entire team has been in constant communication during the shutdown( weekly meetings), we have studied the latest information on how to best care for our patients ( I have taken countless hours of webinars and speaking with colleagues and I feel I am a better dentist because of it. ) and we have implemented the additional protocols to keep us all safe.
We await our governor’s recommendation as to when we can reopen for non emergency procedures. Some of you may have situations that may qualify for “likely to become emergent” conditions that can be treated now. We may be reaching out to such patients. Please check your emails and our Facebook page regularly for updates. As always, please call the office at 781-237-3031 if you have an emergency and the answering service will reach out to Dr Wang.
Thank you for being a part of our family. We value your trust and loyalty, and we look forward to seeing you this summer.
Your team at Premier Dental Group of Wellesley
